15 Winter NTX Jellystone Activities

North Texas Jellystone

Wondering what there is to do at North Texas Jellystone Park in Burleson, TX when the water park is closed? Check out this list of 15 different activities we experienced during our short three day winter stay!

Jellystone Snowflake

Snowflake Scavenger Hunt

I was surprised by how much my entire family loved exploring the park by bike to find the hidden snowflakes. If bikes aren’t your thing, they have golf cart rentals!

Jellystone Trail

Nature Trails

The are several nature trails throughout the park. One even has signs scattered throughout that can be scanned with the Jellystone app. After scanning, the app will give you more information about the animal pictured on the sign and audio of the animal’s sound.

Jumping Pads

The park has two of these, one for older children and one for younger children. My kids couldn’t get enough! This may have been my nine year old’s favorite thing there.

Playgrounds

There are a few different playgrounds. Some have traditional equipment while others have things like rock climbing, rope swings, climbing nets, and a maze.

Jellystone Geocache

Geocaching

There is a geocache hidden in the park! It is hidden nicely, but you do not have to go through thorns, water, or weeds to access it. It is a nice find with many different trinkets hidden inside.

Jellystone menu

Dinner and Ice Cream

As much as we love grilling when camping, it was nice not to have to bring food and prepare for every night we were there. We enjoyed pizza and burgers one night and made ice cream a daily treat! Check out this menu to plan ahead before you go.

Jellystone Bear

Meet the Bears

The jumping pad my have been my daughter’s favorite, but meeting the bears was the highlight for my son. The Jellystone app indicates which activities will have bears present, therefore campers will be sure not to miss them.

Jellystone Games

Group Activities

The park hosts random daily games and crafts like ceramics painting and T-shirt tie dying. Pictured here we are playing Bingo and a snowflake matching game. Campers can also start up their own games such as basketball, ping pong, tetherball, and volleyball. Additionally, campers can invite other campers to play through the app.

Jellystone Party

Dance Party

Dance to the DJ’s funky tunes at your own campsite or on the “Bear’s Den” back porch with others.

Jellystone Zoo

Petting Farm

Interact with goats, pigs, chickens and other animals at the little animal farm. However, don’t let your little ones chase the animals like mine wanted to do.

Jellystone Firetruck

Fire Truck Rides

North Texas Jellystone offers different types of rides around the park. We had the choice of firetruck or hay rides during our trip. Pro tip: Don’t line up as soon as the rides open. The line was so long at first that we decided to come back later. Consequently, we jumped in line just in time for the last ride with no waiting.

Laser/Archery Tag and Paintball

In addition to the traditional laser tag game, the park offers archery tag. This seems like a better version for young children since the walls are smaller and the gun attaches to the wrist, for instance. We did not participate in an actual paintball war, but both children enjoyed the paintball target practice.

Jellystone Arcade

Arcade and Indoor Play Place

There is a small arcade that includes a large indoor play structure. One afternoon they offered 1/2 off game tokens, so we took advantage. It was disappointing that many games were out of order, but the ticket winnings were generous and our kids went home with some nice loot.

Colorful Campfire

Colorful Campfires and S’mores

Thanks to the Walmart near by, my husband picked up some powder that turns your camp fire flames different colors. We enjoyed S’mores in this colorful fire with the Graham Crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey’s we purchased at the camp store.

Yogi Bear Movie

Watch the Yogi Bear Movie

Thanks to free and reliable Wifi at the campsite, we were able to stream the Yogi Bear Movie. Since my kids did not grow up with the Yogi Bear cartoon, like we did, it was fun to introduce them the him in this way.

In conclusion, our children were entertained every minute of the day and did not try to retreat to the camper for time on their devices. That alone, made the trip a huge win for this mom. As a result, we can not wait to go back in the summer and check out everything the water park has to offer.
