Midland X-Talker T61VP3 Two Way Radio Review
Midland sent us a pair of T61VP3 X-Talker two way radios to review and they were perfect for my family camping trip. They gave me a whole new peace of mind when my children wanted to venture out and explore the campgrounds with new friends. It was comforting to know that I could let them play and explore, but still have them only a push button away. When one little boy fell and hurt his leg, they were able to call for help right away on the two way radio.
X-Talker T61VP3 Two Way Radio Range
These radios have a decent range. The range is clearly extended when there are no obstacles or obstructions. I’m not sure about the 32 mile range, but across a lake the range is satisfactory. We may have had better luck with range had I not dropped one of them in a puddle of water on our canoe trip. They are NOT waterproof. I was devastated thinking I had ruined them. However, after about a week of drying out, it started working again! I am super excited to put them to a longer range test during our Colorado ski trip in May.
Charging the X-Talker T61VP3
Another feature I like is the charging design. The charging cable is a standard Micro USB cable that is not proprietary. They can be charged individually or together through the charging stand. When you place the radios on the charger the bar meter blinks to indicate that they are charging. There is a “FULL” message that displays on the screen when the battery is fully charged. If you are out and about and the rechargeable battery runs out, you can replace it with standard AAA batteries.
Lastly, the NOAA weather station is nice bonus, size is relatively compact, and each radio comes with it’s own belt clip.

Great idea! I’d love to have this at my next camp site!
Two way radios are such a fantastic idea! Kids can have more independence to explore, while still staying safe! I especially like that these have a universal micro USB charger since we’ve gotten to campsites without the correct sized batteries. I also like the NOAA weather capabilities since weather dictates so much when you are camping. Thanks for the helpful review!
I usually only camp with my bf and we’re never apart, but it’s a great idea for camping with kids or friends (or even a large family trip!)
What a great idea, will definitely bring a pair for camping and hiking trips once we get kids!
This is such a great idea — would be so useful for a big family camping trip!
This is a great idea, and informative! I’m a writer for Mission Critical Communications Review. We write blog posts reviewing different communications tools like two-way radios, headsets, and more. I was wondering if you would be open to us writing a guest post for your site and in return allow us to leave a few backlinks in the article for our site?
Thank you for your time and consideration!

I sent you an email!
Thank you! I’m having a hard time finding it in my inbox. If it isn’t too much trouble could you please resend it to dparenti@mccr.info.
Wow, so small yet so valuable.
So funny I just ordered a set because I thought the grandsons would have fun with them. I didn’t even think about checking for waterproofed as a feature 😕.
Yeah. Waterproof are going to be much more expensive. There are clear waterproof bags and cases you can buy.
