Our Midwest Road trip ended with a five-night stay in Branson, MO. As soon as we pulled into town, we knew that this would not be a week of lounging around the campsite. For example, we were greeted by extravagant, brightly colored buildings, including an upside-down house, a building with a giant King Kong hanging from it, and one shaped like the Titanic with water spraying the front. I call Branson, the family-friendly version of Vegas, minus the gambling, because billboards for shows, amusement park type rides, and the cartoon-like buildings welcome visitors with an atmosphere of unlimited entertainment. In this post, I describe the attractions we visited during our trip plus list many more things to do in Branson Mo with kids.

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– The Track Family Fun Parks

The Track Family Fun Parks in Branson is spread out over three locations. We received a wrist band for two hours of unlimited go-cart tracks, the Branson Ferris Wheel, and some arcade credits.

Below is a list of the attractions offered by The Track Family Fun Parks:

#6 Branson Ferris Wheel

This continuous rotating Ferris wheel provides great views of the city and has an interesting history, too. Read about its move from Chicago as you wait to board the ride.

#7 Go Kart Tracks

We had an absolute blast on the tracks and made it to two of the locations within our two hours of go-cart time. There are tracks for all levels and ages making it appropriate for the whole family. Our favorite was the Heavy Metal High Rise! Tip: Go early. We started our two hours about 6:00 on a Thursday night. The first hour we had very little wait time. As it got later, our waits got much longer. 🤑 Get Your Discounted Tickets Here. 🤑

#8 Arcade Games

We had so much fun at the arcade that we came back for more the next day! My favorite game was the huge Connect Four basketball game. It was perfect family friendly competition.

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– The Titanic Museum

#18 Titanic Museum

I was excited about this one, but was afraid my kids would be bored. However, they enjoyed it as much as I did. My six-year-old boy ranks it as one of the best things we did that week!

When you first get in line you are given a “boarding pass.” On the pass there is the story of an actual passenger that was aboard the Titanic. As you go through the museum, you get to “walk in their shoes” and imagine what it might have been like to be aboard the ship. You are also given an audio player. The audio tour comes with your ticket at no extra cost. The museum provides both an adult recording and a children’s recording. My six-year-old had a blast looking for the numbers on the wall that indicated the next recording. The interactive pieces of the museum were the most fun for the kids.

Interactive Exhibits

🧊 Touch the iceberg and water to feel how cold it was

🛳 Stand on multiple angled ship decks to experience what it felt like to stand on the sinking ship at different times in the sinking process

💪🏽 Simulate shoveling coal in the furnace to feel how heavy and strenuous that job would have been

🥶 Stand on a dark, cold, eerie deck peering at the approaching iceberg

🐶 Go on a scavenger hunt to learn about the dogs aboard the ship

At the end of the museum, you will find out if the person on your boarding pass survived the ship wreck. If so, you get to learn about what he or she went on to do with the rest of their life. What an awesome history lesson this was for my children!

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– Shows We Attended

#22 Dolly Parton’s Stampede

I was actually surprised at how much my family enjoyed this show. My kids danced in their seats and screamed with excitement as they cheered on our “team” and all of the performers. I was even more surprised at how delicious the food was. How they feed that many people that quickly and the food still be amazing is beyond me. I would love to see how that kitchen runs. Additionally, it was a ton of food per person. We had plenty of leftovers to feed us lunch the next day.

#23 Hamner’s Unbelievable

This show was really fun to watch and kept my children entertained every minute of it. In addition to Hamner’s magic, the show had many other variety acts. For example, an award-winning vocalist, lasso champion, acrobats, and my favorite, a vocalist impersonator who imitated Elvis, Sammy Davis Jr., and several others all in the same song.

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– Eats and Treats

Restaurants

#27 Mel’s Hard Luck Diner

There were only three things I remembered from my previous visit to the city as a kid and one was Mel’s Hard Luck Diner. I mean, who could forget being serenaded by their waiter? Yes, that’s right. The waiters and waitresses sing and they are extremely talented. While serving our unreasonably large dessert portions, our waiter picked up the mic and “karaoked” “Sugar, Sugar.” Honestly, I was not really impressed with our dinner and they were out of several side items. We did go closer to closing time. Maybe the food is better earlier in the day. However, the desserts were fabulous. Expect a long wait for a table.

#28 Guy Fieris

Due to the long wait time, I almost did not add this one to the list of things to do with kids in Branson, MO. Because everything is made from scratch, it took a while to get our food and my children got pretty restless. However, the food was a hit and ended up being worth the wait. Just consider bringing something to keep the kids entertained.

Frozen Treats

#29 Ice Cream

Sometimes it is the little things. We have a saying in our house that it is impossible to be sad while eating ice cream. I took the kids to Branson Landing in Historic Downtown Branson for a treat at Kilwins. My daughter got a cone and I sample their outstanding fudge.

#30 Snow Cones

Ice cream is a favorite in my family, but snow cones are a rare treat. My youngest chose a snow cone from the Snowie stand at Branson Landing over ice cream this time and only manage to drop a small portion of it on the ground.

#31 Frozen Yogurt Bar

We decided to wrap up our final night in town with one more sweet treat. This time we hit up Sweet Susie’s. The frozen yogurt was delicious, but pricey. Patrons fill their own cups and toppings. With the massive selection, it is easy to pile it on. When you get to the register you will be charged by the weight of your cup.

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– Mountain Coaster

#32 Mountain Roller Coaster

We have done our far share of roller coasters, but never a mountain coaster! There are several in town. We rode the Runaway Mountain Coaster. You first take a five-minute ride up through the Ozark mountains, enjoying the beautiful scenery all the way. On your decent, you are in control of the cart’s speed. I shared a cart with my six-year-old and we took it pretty slowly. However, my nine-year-old was petal the metal all the way down the mountain.

Things to do with Kids in Branson MO– Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail

#37 Top of the Rock Caverns Tour

This is a 2 ½ mile golf cart ride around breathtaking rock formations, gorgeous waterfalls, and Table Rock Lake. At one point, the tour even routes through a cave! The scenery is gorgeous and our kids loved being able to ride in the golf cart. Of course, they both wanted to ride in the front with Daddy, so I had the entire backseat to myself. No complaints from me!

Research the amenities at the resorts or campgrounds you are considering. Many have free built-in entertainment for kids. We camped at the Branson KOA Holiday. On those hot afternoons when we just did not have it in us to run around town, the pool with its tall waterslide kept the kiddos occupied. I also enjoyed the adult’s only hot tub!
